Levitating Waters

Levitating Waters

Ken Rosenthal, founder and owner of ModernHome1, is the inventor behind Levitating Waters, a creation showcased in films, luxury hotels and spas, museums, high-tech homes, and yachts.

Levitating Waters is a kinetic water illusion that creates the appearance of water droplets floating, rising, or freezing in midair. Using synchronized strobe lighting and precise fluid dynamics, it manipulates human perception, producing a mesmerizing visual effect.

Experience its magic here on Earth—no need for a trip on Elon Musk’s or Jeff Bezos’s spacecraft.

Cinema

Levitating Waters inspired the water illusion in the 2016 blockbuster Now You See Me 2. In this NBC Today Show interview, David Copperfield—a co-producer and consultant on the film—revealed the secret behind this technology.

At 2:25, Copperfield credits Ken and the wagon-wheel effect that drives the illusion.

Tokyo Disneyland

Levitating Waters captivated Tokyo Disneyland visitors for a decade, performing five times daily for thousands. The installation’s three 18-inch magical streams even outshined the park’s Michael Jackson 3D film in popularity!

Hong Kong

A 48 computer-controlled 8-foot-high Levitating Waters display has been featured at the Hong Kong Museum of Science for over fifteen years on its main level. The droplets can be programmed to appear in different colors, and as though moving in different directions. Imagine blue droplets rising while red or green droplets levitate and crystal clear 10 carat GIA diamond like D color droplets dance or bounce—all at the same time. Droplets can also change shape to many unique water forms, even undulating solid streams which appear to rise but without internal tubes.
